 Jan Parker and Sam Masich
Jan Parker has been a student of Taijiquan since 1985.  In 1996 she immigrated to Canada to study with Sam Masich. Now a top student of Sam Masich, she has studied and learned from masters from both North America and China including: David Leung, Sik Hung Chan, Wen-Mei Yu, and her first teacher, Jim Eisenman. Jan trained in China in 1994 with Yang style Grandmaster Fu Zhong Wen and Wu style Grandmaster Ma Yuen Leung. She also studied with Jue Ben Yi in the Gou Lin Qigong.



She is a member of the Pacific Association of Women in Martial Arts (PAWMA) and the National Women's Martial Arts Federation (NWMAF) and has been an instructor at their annual training camps. In 2004, Jan was honoured as PAWMA’s Martial Artist of the Year in 2004. She has performed Taijiquan on various stage and television programs and is distinguished in competition with three gold medals in form, weapons and push hands from competitions in China, Canada and the US. 

Jan specializes in teaching private lessons and holds seminars throughout North America, as well as regular qigong classes at a drug and alcohol treatment centre on Bowen Island.


Jan is married to Ken Parker, a craftsman, they have a cat, a dog and a good life. Jan is dedicated to the promotion of Taiji and the changes that happen in one's life when we begin to move in a conscious way.
